The main mission of STOP is to raise awareness and eliminate single-use plastic consumption at UC Berkeley.  To accomplish this goal we plan to identify the plastic related problems on campus and then build a student movement to put pressure on the University administration to minimize plastic use. We believe refusing plastic is the most effective method to prevent plastic pollution. Additionally, we want to increase awareness of plastic usage and recycling methods – giving students the information and tools they need to reshape our campus and our world. We explore alternatives to plastic use, and promote a reuse and zero waste lifestyle to reduce our plastic footprint and assist the campus in reaching the goal of Zero Waste by 2020.
